AWAKE UP CALL

A huge thank you to everyone for being part of Sanctuary First. We have truly an amazing team of talented and enthusiastic people who worked really hard today to bring the whole experience together. This service was created around the reading in Revelation Chapter 3. It is the letter addressed to the church at Sardis. This church had reputation but no reality. The aim of this service is to help us all realize that time is short and we have to be ready and prepared for the work that God is calling us all to participate in. Like the church at Sardis it is too easy to become complacent and believe that we are being successful because we are involved in lots of activity. The church is called first and foremost to be a worshipping community. Too often we are like dead men walking or like people half asleep to the needs of the world round us. We need to make sure that we are not a community of believers that live off a past reputation. We need to do all we can to ensure that our worship is authentic and true and that includes our lives. Here is a great song by Keith Greene which we used tonight. Asleep in the Light In the service we still want to explore the areas of ACTS = ADORATION CONFESSION THANKSGIVING AND SERVICE. Tonights service I guess focused on the need for us confess before God our complacency. I'd love to here you comments about the service. BIBLE BASE Revelation 3 (The Message) Revelation 3 To Sardis 1 Write this to Sardis, to the Angel of the church. The One holding the Seven Spirits of God in one hand, a firm grip on the Seven Stars with the other, speaks: "I see right through your work. You have a reputation for vigor and zest, but you're dead, stone-dead. 2-3"Up on your feet! Take a deep breath! Maybe there's life in you yet. But I wouldn't know it by looking at your busywork; nothing of God's work has been completed. Your condition is desperate. Think of the gift you once had in your hands, the Message you heard with your ears—grasp it again and turn back to God. "If you pull the covers back over your head and sleep on, oblivious to God, I'll return when you least expect it, break into your life like a thief in the night. 4"You still have a few followers of Jesus in Sardis who haven't ruined themselves wallowing in the muck of the world's ways. They'll walk with me on parade! They've proved their worth! 5"Conquerors will march in the victory parade, their names indelible in the Book of Life. I'll lead them up and present them by name to my Father and his Angels. 6"Are your ears awake? Listen. Listen to the Wind Words, the Spirit blowing through the churches."

Last night was fantastic - a really challenging word with lots of encouragement for us to be all we need to be in Christ.  If the scene with the paramedic wasn’t enough to stir us in to action, nothing will.  It was creativity and God’s Word working hand in hand - and to great effect.

“...Conquerors will march in the victory parade, their names indelible in the Book of Life. I’ll lead them up and present them by name to my Father and his Angels…”

Whom shall we fear?

See you next month.
