I must say that I was delighted with the First Minister's performance on the BBC last night raising funds for the Children in Need  Appeal. Its thanks to a lot of high profile people and many ordinary folks all getting together that money can be raised that will make a difference in communities throughout the UK. De-stablising Christmas?

Well I never, thanks for your post Jackie regarding the upside down Christmas Trees. I see John Lewis the Department store was selling them last year. So what is it all about? The word on the street is that its not some plan to destablise Christmas,(for give the pun), rather it is a marketing gimmick to sell trees that will be more child friendly. The selling point is that it leaves more room around the tree for presents. I think there is something not right here....

CHRISTMAS UNPLUGGED

[kml_flashembed movie="http://uk.youtube.com/v/iDbNcNfunbU" width="425" height="350" wmode="transparent" /] I thought this would be a good title to use as our over all theme for Christmas this year. I think many of us wish we could just unplug Christmas and get back to what it is really aall about. I think there is so much light pollution with all the Christmas decorations that it would be hard to see the real star if it were to appear. So maybe we need to switch...

The wrong way round

Re-locating the flowers in the sanctuary is not rocket science, however when its left up to a man to do the relocation, you better be prepared for anything. JS our flower arranger had gone to a lot of trouble to pick the right flowers for Remembrance Sunday. She placed them on the font in church as usual. When I arrived on Sunday morning I needed to put a cross on the font. So the beadle for the month helpfully re-located the flowers to the other side of the...

Some good work beginning to take root

Some really good work is going on among the school children in the Bo'ness area. we received a letter of thanks from Blackness School in appreciation of the film making training that we were able to give to the children. I also heard good reports this week from the team that are working up in the Bo'ness Academy. A number of younger girls have expressed an interest in having a morning club at the church for an hour before they go to school. This will allow them to meet...

Remembrance Sunday

Today is Remembrance Sunday here in the UK. We showed the clip below while the wreath was being laid at the war memorial inside the church. There is something about Winston Churchill's voice that is so inspirational even after all these years. REMEMBRANCE Those of you who have been following the story relating to the Remembrance Garden will be interested to know that we had an excellent turn out at church today. I'm sure that many people who attended were encouraged...

Making your mark with a cross

Today has been an interesting day. It was really very touching to see so many people turn up to place their crosses in the little Garden of Remembrance at the church. People of all ages took part in the service. It was truly moving to hear people tell their stories about their crosses. Over the next few days I hope that many more people will come to the church and put crosses in the Garden. I hope that all this will help breathe new life into our Sunday Remembrance...
