I visited the recording studio last week before heading to Wales last weekend. I managed  to record six songs which will make up the next Bogle Band EP. In the picture is Graeme Duffin  on my right and iain Jamieson  on my left. We hope to be able to take orders for the EP in the near future. The newspapers call this time of the year  the silly season, the politicians often use it to disclose unpopular news. The reason being many people are away on holiday so...

Trains tell stories

20120715-235954.jpg Today I'm bracing myself for a long train journey. I'm off to take part in the Welsh Presbyterian's General Assembly. I've been given the honour to address the Assembly on behalf of the partner churches in the UK. Over the past few weeks Martha and I have been on a number of trains with one or two interesting consequences. Regular readers of the blog will no doubt have a chuckle and know what I mean. I think I might have to guard against "Deep Train Thrombosis". The...

Here I am on a train again heading home after visiting a joint BB Camp just outside Aviemore. I can hardly believe that it's almost a week since my last adventure on the train brought me into direct fellowship with the hen party. You'll be glad to know I've not encountered any on this trip. What I have encountered today is a great deal of ingenuity and fantastic team work. Four BB Companies have got together and pulled their resources to create a camping experience for...

Understanding Gospel Culture and Heritage

So what of the Order of the Thistle? This was a very interesting Service to attend. The Dean of the Thistle  in his short address  reminded His Royal Highness Prince William to devote his life to the honour of God, to the maintenance of Christ's most holy Evangel,( in other words the gospel), and to the Service of Her Majesty the Queen.  All this is a highlights that at the heart of our Monarchy is a wonderful Christian heritage. Gospel values  can continue  to...

Glasgow Cathedral And The Jubilee Invokes Memories

Let me continue with last week's story this week. Hopefully, I'll catch up with the rest of this week in a day or two. You can imagine that there is a tremendous amount of planning that goes into a Royal Service at the Cathedral. I must pay tribute to all the people who participated from the police to the Cathedral staff. Bill Shedden the Cathedral Beadle was particularly helpful to me on the day. We got on well especially, when we discovered we had lived around the...

Interrupted by a hen party

Here I am settling down to write my blog on the train from Edinburgh to Scarborough. What an interesting week has just past! On Monday I shared with you all the experience of taking the 21 Gun Salute at Edinburgh Castle. Then on Tuesday it was an afternoon at the Queen's Garden Party at Holyrood. I always seem to meet interesting people on these occasions. Tuesday was no exception. It's not always the famous people who are the most interesting. Then when it came to...

A Tale of Two Cities - The Sermon and the Salute

Today is the tale of two cities. Glasgow was the morning and Edinburgh was the afternoon. I caught the 8.49 am train into Glasgow and then made my way to the Cathedral to be briefed about the forthcoming Jubilee Service this Wednesday. Its going to be quite a big affair. The television cameras will be there and the service will be broadcast on BBC 2 from 10.30am onwards. I'm looking forward to the service. A huge amount of preparation has gone into the planning and i'm...
